The first activity we want to be able to complete is some private pre-alpha playtests of Rise Of The Jemhaji. These playtests will include the Tutorial area as well as a small section of the first map, Iulara. Pre-Alpha playtests will help us immensely in knowing if the game is any good, and if there’s anything that is inherently broken before we continue development. We hope to have these completed early into the New Year.
Once the Pre-Alpha playtests have been completed, development will continue to get the game to Alpha stage and after that, the most exciting milestone for the year, a public Beta release! We want you to get your hands on the game, and provide us with any feedback you have, good or bad. We will give you the chance to provide the team with this feedback, probably through a Google Form, but also possibly a Discord Server? Now that would be fun!
And finally, following a (hopefully) successful Beta, we will take Rise Of The Jemhaji to Kickstarter, and we’re pretty excited about this one too! We’re already thinking about some cool rewards that we can offer you guys, and have been on a trip across the internet to shortlist printing and manufacturing companies that offer cool product options. We will be making sure that any physical rewards are as environmentally friendly as they possibly can be!
Funding from the campaign will go towards developing the full version of the game.
As you can tell from this list, we don’t plan on releasing the full version of Rise Of The Jemhaji this year. We know we said it’d release in the 3rd Quarter of 2021, however we were naïve to think that a full RPG could be built and released in a year while also completing general business admin, marketing and hiring activities, and getting prepared for funding opportunities. As you may know, this is the first project of this scale that Lauren has undertaken, and as a first-time Founder she wants to get as much right as possible, both with the business and Rise Of The Jemhaji!
But, she has made the decision that you will get some form of the game in 2021 in the form of the public Beta release! If the full game can also be released, then that would be brilliant, but we don’t want to hold ourselves to any unrealistic standards with the speed of developing this game - we also have to look after our team's wellbeing, both physically and mentally.
We’ll be taking a little bit of a break with our blog posts as we welcome in the New Year with friends and family (safely, of course), so our next post will be on the 10th January, then we’ll be back on our weekly schedule. Happy New Year to all!
